Enabling older people to live their chosen lifestyle

We’re proud to offer:

  • Sheltered independent living for older people within a friendly, family atmosphere
  • Single & double occupancy ensuite rooms & flatlets
  • Delicious home cooked meals
  • Affordable fees, reflecting our charitable status
  • Caring, resident housekeepers
  • Freedom from the concerns & chores of living alone
  • No extra bills to worry about

Fed up with life on your own, but not yet ready to move into a care home?

At Guildford Abbeyfield we have over 30 years experience as one of Surrey’s leading providers of sheltered housing. With two houses, each with less than 12 residents, we pride ourselves on providing secure, relaxed, homely environments for elderly people who are feeling lonely and isolated, or no longer want to cook or shop and are worried about the cost of heating and maintaining their house.

Family and friends are encouraged to visit at any time, to join us for meals and to accompany us on days out and are welcome to stay for short periods in the guest room at either house.

We provide a half way house between coping alone and going into care.

A Warm Welcome

Prospective residents are interviewed informally and then invited for a short stay in the Guest Room before a final decision is taken. Many residents come from the local area, but some have moved from elsewhere to be near relatives. There are no age limits though in practice most of our residents are aged 80 or over.

Fees

Due to our charitable status, charges are generally below those in the commercial sector and with the help from the benefit system, where necessary, no-one has so far been precluded by financial circumstances from being with us.

"I have rarely visited any private home or Abbeyfield house where general happiness and contentment was so abundant"
