ABBEYFIELD IN GUILDFORD
The Abbeyfield (Guildford) society is an independent local charity, affiliated to the national society and managed by volunteers. It has two houses, each with a resident House Manager and supporting staff.
The first, "Roundhay" was opened in 1983 and presently has five studios and five two-room flatlets. It is situated in a pleasant residential area about a mile from the town centre and has a large well maintained garden.
The second, "Castle Gate", which was opened five years later, is only a few minutes' walk from the High Street and is adjacent to the beautiful Castle grounds, to which residents have their own private gate. It has eight studios.
